This stop fort is the largest in the Langres square and even in the entire Séré de Rivières defensive system. It was also the furthest from Langres. It protected the deployment towards the Meuse of the army grouped together in the entrenched camp, while at the same time acting as the linchpin of the Place's northern defence. It consisted of a vast envelope 1,200 metres long and an enormous cavalryman's hut concentrating unrivalled firepower (142 pieces!).

Private property, access to the site is strictly forbidden.
