A circular fountain, reminiscent of ancient architecture, at the foot of which is a semi-circular pool. Dated 1841, legend has it that the spring next to it has the particularity of turning red on the eve of unfortunate events, such as the days of the declaration of war (1836-1914-1939), and also has the power to ensure the happy deliverance of mothers.
Julien Joseph Virey (1775-1846) lived in Hortes. He was one of the leading figures in French and European natural history and anthropology.
