Fontaine-lavoir dite du château à La Rochelle

Fontaine-lavoir dite du château à La Rochelle

The fountain at the foot of the château was built in 1819 by the architect Marc Pambet from Port Sur Saône (Haute-Saône), who was a contractor in the town.
Marc Pambet (1753-1837) was one of those architects who were rooted in practice, cut off from the fashions that were emerging elsewhere. Imaginative and productive, his architecture was influenced (in its early days) by the architect Anatole Amoudru (Dole, Jura, 1739-1812).
