The small theatre square was redeveloped in 2005 to create a pedestrian-friendly area. A fountain (dummy, as the water is in a closed circuit) made of Langres stone was installed for the occasion. It takes the traditional shape of the rural fountains of Haute-Marne and is crowned by a large cast-iron basin. Note the coat of arms on the pile separating the two basins. It bears the coat of arms of the town of Langres, "azure semé de fleurs de lys d'or, au sautoir de gueules brochant", a reference to the coat of arms of the former bishopric. The right to hold a semi-fleur de lys was reserved for the peers of France (great feudal lords, direct vassals of the King of France), a position held by the Bishop of Langres under the Ancien Régime.
