Eriseul, a small village with a population of 19, has been part of the commune of Saint-Loup-sur-Aujon since 1972. Before that, it was a commune in its own right, although it had no church, school or shops. Water is sorely lacking here; despite the presence of numerous eyebrows, the soil does not retain the water, which sinks into the limestone and forms an underground water table. Today, you can drink the spring water that supplies the village from the Place de la Fontaine. All you have to do is pull the knob upwards for a few seconds.
