This fountain is set on a circular paving on which rests a round basin. In the centre of the basin, a square moulded base supports a column topped by a cast-iron vase. The water gushes out through a long spout that emerges from the zoomorphic spout, in this case in the shape of a lion's mouth, which is often depicted in the region.| Bathed by the high-quality water that gushes out above the village, Chauffourt has seen a number of fountains, washhouses and drinking troughs built throughout its history. In the 18th century, wooden pipes fed the fountain opposite the church. In the 19th century, these pipes were restored and the village saw the construction of two new fountains, soon to be supplemented in the 20th century by others distributing drinking water to the centre of the village. However, the 1950s and 1960s saw the disappearance of many of these fountains, which had become redundant following the installation of running water in homes. Some of them were transformed into flower boxes, helping to beautify the village. At the end of the 20th century, the town council decided to restore three of these fountains to their original function.
