Sainte-Madeleine church was built in the second half of the 12th century by the lords of Grancey-le-Château. All the vaults, however, date from the 14th century, when they were completely rebuilt. The side chapels were built in the 16th century and modified in 1721: they opened onto the aisles, whereas previously they had only opened onto the choir. In 1828, the church underwent a phase of work on the interior, resulting in the raising of the floor, which now conceals the base of the pillars. The turret containing the staircase was built in 1864. The church was listed on the Inventaire Supplémentaire des Monuments Historiques on 21 November 1925.

What to see
- Painting Arbre de Jessé by Abel Méot (1872)
- Tombstones: Jean Contet (1595), Jacquette Riboteau (circa 1530), Jacques Damas (1641)
- Chapel of the Rosary (seigneurial chapel) door walled up during the French Revolution.
In the cemetery near the church: mortuary chapel where the deceased from the château were buried in the crypt from 1872 to 1944.

This building was taken over by the commune. The chapel is currently being restored by the commune of Chalancey to create an ossuary, a temporary vault and a columbarium.
