EGLISE SAINTE-ANNE DE SOULAINCOURT

EGLISE SAINTE-ANNE DE SOULAINCOURT

As the date inscribed on the floor of the north aisle indicates, the present church was probably built in 1698. However, reused elements suggest that there was an earlier church, probably dating from the 16th century. The rest of the church, particularly the bell tower, indicates that the building was largely rebuilt in the 19th century. Straddling the two bays of the nave, the bell tower is topped by a polygonal slate spire. The nave has two vessels with three capped bays, and the chancel, which is an extension of the nave's southern vessel, has one capped bay and a flat chevet. On the outside, you can see that the walls are built differently: the west and south walls are of ashlar and those to the east and north are of rubble stone.
