The church of Saint-Rémy in Villiers-sur-Suize is home to two paintings by local artist Henri Gerzaguet.
Born into a family of stonemasons and sculptors, he left his mark in Villiers, as well as in other villages in the surrounding area, where the family business produced numerous works, including funerary monuments.
In addition to the paintings kept by private owners, in the heart of the church you can admire a superb Christ on the Mount of Olives, which the painter gave to Abbé Tessane in 1957 and which still hangs above the main altar, as well as a very expressive piéta.
