EGLISE SAINT-MAURICE DE VILLE-EN-BLAISOIS

EGLISE SAINT-MAURICE DE VILLE-EN-BLAISOIS

The church, dedicated to Saint Maurice, was the seat of a priory founded by Pardule, abbot of Der; the charter of confirmation by Charles-le-Chauve is dated 858. Of the former buildings adjoining the church, which disappeared in the 19th century, there remains a passageway built into a wall serving as a buttress to the church, which was used by the monks to celebrate their services. The interior is no less interesting: two murals depicting Saint Maurice and Saint Eloi adorn the choir, as do 13 medallions depicting Christ and the twelve apostles, painted by Joseph-Constant Ménissier in 1852.
