Semilly church has a three-bay nave, a four-bay south aisle and a one-bay chancel ending in a five-sided apse. The building has fortification features, including a door fitted with a beam lock, which proves that the church was certainly used during the Thirty Years' War. Built in the 13th century, it underwent extensive alterations in the late 15th century, as can be seen from the exterior inscription on the south side, which bears the date 1483. The apse, forechoir and nave date from the 13th century, but the latter was completely altered in the 15th century (piers, bays and vaults). Only the two engaged columns framing the portal bear witness to the 13th century nave.
