Eglise Saint-Martin de Grenant

Eglise Saint-Martin de Grenant

  • photo

The church at Grenant once belonged to Belmont Abbey (since 1140). Destroyed in 1639 by soldiers from the Gray garrison, the church was rebuilt in 1640 and again in 1784. The nave probably dates from the latter period, although the vaults were rebuilt in 1823, as an inscription (on the south side) states. The choir and bell tower were rebuilt at the same time, and the pediment of the west portal bears the date 1824.

Free admission all year round (outside only except for ceremonies).
