The church at Odival was the seat of a parish administered by the prior of Tronchoy and then by the bishop of Langres. In May 1829, the tender for the reconstruction of the church of Saint-Marcel was awarded according to an estimate by the architect Mangot dated 4 February 1829. Contractor Jean-Baptiste Herost, from Juzennecourt, carried out the work for 15,500 francs. Acceptance took place on 3 January 1831. The nave has a single nave with a ceiling and is preceded by a tower-porch crowned by a slate pavilion roof. It is framed at its base by a secondary chapel and the internal angled staircase. The choir has a single bay with a ceiling and ends in a flat chevet against which the gable-roofed sacristy is built.
