The church at Attancourt was the seat of a parish administered by the chapter of Saint-Etienne de Châlons since the donation by Bishop Gui in 1190. The choir, western portal and bell tower of Saint-Louvent church can be dated to the end of the 12th century (although the choir vault appears to have been rebuilt at a later date). The nave was remodelled in 1755, as indicated by the date inscribed on its north wall, but a campaign dated 1731 (date inscribed on a south buttress of the bell tower) had previously restored the bell tower. It is not impossible, however, that the walls of the nave are still those of the original, except for the windows, which date from the 18th century.
