Meuvy is the only village in the Haute-Marne region to have a twisted bell tower, and its residents are proud of this unique feature.
The banana-shaped spire turns slightly from right to left. It is this twist and not the curvature of the spire that makes it a twisted bell tower.
As with most high spires, this is probably a natural deformation due to a lack of braces at the base of the frame.
Although the roof was rebuilt at the end of the 19th century, we do not know how the bending and twisting have changed over time.
Since the early 2000s, the bell tower has been listed by the Association des Clochers Tors d'Europe (ACTE), and the Commune is a member of this association.
There are currently 114 listed bell towers and clochetons, including 65 in France.
