Proudly built on a mound, the church was built thanks to the generosity of the Choiseuls in the early 16th century. Unlike many nearby villages, it has not suffered from disasters or looting. Fresnoy is just one stage on the road to Morimond, the 4th daughter of Cîteaux.
The church of Notre-Dame-de-la-Nativité is a homogeneous building constructed in the first half of the 16th century in the flamboyant Gothic style. The sacristy was built in the 18th century. It is a Latin cross-shaped sandstone building. The two-bay single nave is preceded by a timber-framed porch. The nave is followed by a double transept, the west bay of the south arm of which supports the bell tower crowned with a square flat-tiled spire. The choir consists of a straight bay followed by a three-sided apse, the whole covered by a ribbed vault with hanging keystones. The north-east side of the choir houses a Eucharistic cupboard. The shed-roofed sacristy backs onto the north wall of the choir.
