The church at Violot was a simple chapel which was made a branch of Rivières-le-Bois in 1786. The church of l'Assomption-de-Notre-Dame, with its elongated plan, has a choir and nave that could date back to the time when it was erected as a branch church. The bell tower was erected in 1827, as recalled by two inscriptions on either side of the west portal. To the south, the building forming the side aisle is an addition that must have been built in the second half of the 19th century. The nave has two aisles (a main aisle and a side aisle to the south) and a ceiling. It is preceded by a tower-porch crowned by a square slate spire. The choir has a single bay with a ceiling and ends in a flat chevet against which the lean-to sacristy is built. The bell tower is built of rubble stone with an ashlar chain, while the rest of the building is rendered.
