The cross has an octagonal shaft decorated with foliage, liturgical symbols and instruments of the Passion. The base bears the following inscription: "To the devotion of Pierre Lavaux and his wife Anne Lebel, and his son François Lavaux, 18...". (date erased). History tells us that after Pierre Lavaux (a 57-year-old widower) and Anne Lebelle (45) married on 8 February 1796 in Isômes (the bride's home town), the groom joined Napoleon's armies and fought several campaigns until 1814. After his demobilisation and to commemorate his return home, the bride and groom had this cross erected on this spot.
