Two large square slabs form the base of the pedestal of this superb neo-Gothic cross. At the base of the pedestal are pointed arches, reminiscent of a Gothic church portal on all four sides. Separated by a moulded cornice, these motifs are repeated on the upper level with four rosettes and four fine colonettes. The base of the hexagonal column features three imaginary, fantastical beasts that frequent the underworld, one of which is part animal, the other part human, covering its head with both hands as if to protect itself from the eternal damnation of the arid lands. The hexagonal shaft then extends to a capital with floral decoration supporting a radiating cross with openwork motifs, topped by a phylactery. At the intersection of the shaft and the crosspiece is a Christ and unequal rays symbolising the rays of the sun and divine light.
