A pedestal stands on a stone base, followed by a four-sided dice with reliefs and inscriptions. The front reads "THIS CROSS ERECTED / IN THE YEAR 1600 IS / THE NOBLE MOVEMENT / OF GENEROUS FAITH / OF DOM GUY DE / MAULAIN PRIOR / OF THE MONASTERY / OF CHOISEUL". Guy de Maulain, a monk of Cluny, was prior of the Benedictine priory of Choiseul, dependent on the abbey of Molesme, from 1574 to 1606. He died in 1616, and the opposite side is decorated with an unarmoured shield in relief, around which are spiralling motifs. The two side walls feature a Greek cross with wide branches. Above this is a column with a fluted shaft, a composite capital and a cross. A Christ on the cross adorns one side. On the other, a crowned Virgin and Child stands on a gadrooned console. Jesus, seated on his mother's left arm, is dressed in a long tunic.
