Mounted on a Gallo-Roman capital in the Corinthian style, this remarkable roadside cross, located near the school, was erected in the 14th century. The street side features Christ on the Cross and the Virgin Mary on the other.

The cross originally stood in Place Diderot in Langres, but was moved to the Trépassés cemetery and the cloister of the cathedral before being installed near the Champigny-lès-Langres school on 14 September 1749.

It has been listed on the Inventaire Supplémentaire des Monuments Historiques since 10 October 1927.
