The "Confrérie de la Bête Noire" promotes game meat from the Haute-Marne region.
Game: Haute-Marne is one of France's most prolific game areas. With its 250,000 hectares of forest, Haute-Marne is home to wild boar, roe deer and red deer.
The Arc-Châteauvillain forest, in the south-west of the département, is often regarded as one of the richest game areas in France. These forests have given rise to a wealth of gastronomic expertise, with many restaurants offering a whole range of game-based menus.
The "Confrérie de la Bête Noire" (Brotherhood of the Black Beast) promotes game meat from the Haute-Marne. Deer, roe deer and wild boar are eaten at the annual chapter lunch held on the 1st Sunday in March.
