The Combe boisé de l'ermitage Saint-Jean Natural Area of Ecological, Faunistic and Floristic Interest is located in a valley on the side of the Meuse valley. Its steep slopes are made up of scree. This almost completely forested ZNIEFF is enhanced by a tuff stream with a rugged course.
This ZNIEFF includes one of only three known localities in Champagne-Ardenne for the corydalis bulbosa, all of which are located in the Haute-Marne region. What's more, the real landscape qualities of the site are much appreciated by walkers, who visit it in connection with the memory of the Ermitage Saint-Jean, of which a few ruins remain.
