COLOMBIER DU CHATEAU

COLOMBIER DU CHATEAU

  • photo

The massive dovecote in the courtyard of the château has two levels, with the pigeons housed above a former cheese dairy. While a half-height randière prevents predators from gaining access to the nests, two openings allow the pigeons to take flight. The first is a dormer window in the roof, and the second is a flight platform under the cornice. The two arched doors add an elegant touch. Higher up, the conical roof is covered in slate. It ends in a zinc finial, in the shape of a ball and then a spike. Inside, the first floor contains 628 tufa bricks.
