CAREER OF Fabrice LIIRI, awarded "one of the BEST WORKERS in France" in ART CISELERIE in 2007 |For 32 years this title had not been awarded in chiselling on a national level.| I am originally from Nogent en Bassigny (Haute Marne), a large cutlery and chiselling basin.
Having left school at the age of 15 and a half, I started working in scissor making for a few years.
In 1974 I was taken on at the Landanger company in CHAUMONT, which was then taken over by De Puy France and then by Précimed.
Having worked in the orthopaedic field for 36 years, I have acquired a great deal of professional experience in these factories.
About ten years ago, after consulting the drawings of Nicolas Pelletier, a chiseller from Nogent, I became interested in the art of chiselling.
So I tried my hand at making my own work; it was extremely difficult at first, but I didn't give up and, little by little, my passion for the subject led me to acquire the know-how that comes from perseverance and persistence in striving for perfection.
I've had to be very patient and I've spent a lot of time improving; I've even contacted a number of cutlers in the Nogent area to help me perfect my technique.
All my work is made entirely by hand from a stainless steel plate.
I'd also like to point out that this work takes up a lot of my time and is designed to give me personal satisfaction.
I took part in the 'Meilleurs Ouvriers de France' competition, which is held every three years; I failed twice before finally being awarded the title in 2007.
My prize-winning pieces in 2007 at the "un des Meilleurs Ouvriers de France en coutellerie (option cisellerie)" competition were presented in LYON that same year.
I'm extremely proud of this recognition of my expertise.
For the presentation of this national distinction, I was invited to the SORBONNE in PARIS on 30 January 2008 and to a reception at the PALAIS DE L'ELYSEE on 31 January 2008.
