Chêne de "La Folle"

Chêne de "La Folle"

  • photo

Remarkable oak tree located 3 km south of the village on the rue de la Chadrelle, in a place known as "La Folle".

This now solitary tree, born in the time of Louis XIV, is the survivor of a 40-hectare wood that once occupied this area. The wood, cut down by the monks of the Langres choir, was supposed to be replanted, but they never did so.
During the reparcelling, its stature imposed itself on everyone and everyone respected it.
In 1988, a project was due to see the construction of an ammunition depot at Heuilley-Cotton. But the project was abandoned, allowing this majestic oak to continue growing to this day.
