The current construction began in the 17th century (between 1650 and 1680). Before that, there was another castle, probably built in the 15th century, of which nothing remains. We only know that it stood opposite the present one. The oldest building on the property is the dovecote, which is dated exactly to 1619 by an inscription engraved on the stone lintel. Originally, the château consisted of a central body flanked by two square towers projecting from the rear. Over the course of the 18th century, successive alterations led to its current appearance. The history of Château de Dampierre is closely linked to that of the family that has lived there for several centuries and continues to do so today. The facades and roofs of the château, as well as those of the south wing of the outbuildings and the dovecote, have been listed on the Inventaire Supplémentaire des Monuments Historiques since 23 December 1981.
