Château de Lafauche is a frontier fortress dating from the 12th to 16th centuries overlooking the Prez plain at an altitude of over 400 metres. Its 5-hectare surface area bears witness to its strategic importance in medieval times.
The castle was vast with a lower and upper courtyard, well fortified, surrounded by a 1.525 m to 3 m thick rampart and flanked by eighteen towers, 9 of which are still visible. Two drawbridges provided access.
A walk through a magical place!
The castle is freely accessible, so you can wander around and discover it as you please, while respecting the historic site.
However, the Médiévalis Lafauche Chaumont association offers guided group tours throughout the year. During your visit, you'll discover and explore the history and architecture of Château Lafauche.
We also welcome school groups on a project basis (by the day, etc.) and work with the school or college beforehand.
We can also organise medieval events at the château.
