Brouthières Castle and its dovecote, both listed as Historic Monuments, were built in the mid-18th century by the de Simony family, originally from Siena in Italy.
The castle, on a human scale, was built in the classical style on a rectangular plan. The façades, devoid of ornamentation, are very harmonious, thanks to the balance between solid and open spaces.
The grounds on the village side were transformed in the 19th century into an English-style park and give the impression of a natural, rural setting, untouched by human hands.
On the woodland side, a so-called ‘French-style’ garden with symmetrical flowerbeds bordered by box hedges still remains.
The dovecote, a privilege of the nobility and a testament to the owner’s wealth, also dates back to the 18th century. It has recently been restored.
Brouthières Castle has been in the same family for nearly three centuries!
