This chapel is located to the east of the village, on the western edge of the Bussières-les-Belmont national forest. It can be reached from the village via a Way of the Cross or a forest road off the D136. A pilgrimage takes place there every year on the eve of the Nativity of Mary.
In 1914, Abbé Jean-Edouard Lamy, a native of Le Pailly and parish priest of La Courneuve in Paris, acquired the hunting lodge and forest. He brought with him a gilded wooden statue of the Virgin bought from a second-hand dealer in the capital. A spontaneous pilgrimage was organised in early September 1914, and in 1915 the pavilion was converted into a chapel. Since then, many faithful walkers have made the diversions to the clearing in search of a change of scenery, calm, serenity and meditation...
A hundred metres away, there is a spring where many parishioners come to draw water.
The parish that groups together the villages around Chalindrey took the name Notre-Dame des Bois in 1998. A symbol that brings people together!
