CHAPELLE NOTRE-DAME DE MONTROT

CHAPELLE NOTRE-DAME DE MONTROT

  • photo

In 1608, Jean Lebon, a ploughman from Montrot, discovered a statue of the Virgin and Child while digging under a tuft of grass that his ox was grazing on every day. A spring sprang up at this spot. Messire Pierre Labelle, parish priest of Arc en Barrois, had a cross erected there and placed the statue in a niche. Healings followed, including that of Claude Bordet d'Arc, who had a chapel built in 1727.
