Situated by the road between Leffonds and Villiers-sur-Suize, this small chapel was built in 1921. The story goes that on Saturday 05 September 1914, Abbé Damas, the village priest, was warned that German troops were advancing as far as Vitry le François. He suggested that the parishioners of the two towns ask the Virgin Mary for protection. "We vow to erect a monument to Mary between Villiers and Leffonds on the Thrace hill if the Blessed Virgin, through her powerful intercession, preserves our two villages from the misfortunes of the invasion". After the war, a subscription of some 3,000 francs enabled the building to be constructed, topped by a majestic metal Virgin from the Val d'Osne (she weighs 500 kg and is 2.20 m high).
