Imposing in its dimensions, the Jesuit chapel bears witness to the influence of the Jesuit College founded in 1617. It was built thanks to donations from Chaumont families between 1629 and 1640.
A typical example of Jesuit architecture from this period, it is admired for the rich decoration of its interior, in particular the monumental altarpiece by Claude Collignon, completed in the 19th century with a high relief by Jean-Baptiste Bouchardon.
To the right of the façade, in homage to Edme Bouchardon, sculptor to King Louis XV, is the Bouchardon fountain, listed in the supplementary inventory of historic monuments.
Now an exhibition space, the Chapelle des Jésuites regularly hosts exhibitions of paintings and sculptures of great interest.
