At the heart of the old medieval town, the basilica was built in the 13th century and retains its façade and nave from that period. An elegant south portal and side chapels were gradually added in the 14th century.
The transept and choir, rebuilt between 1517 and 1543, are typical of the flamboyant Gothic style, with multi-ribbed vaults. The interior layout of this section adopts early Renaissance decorative motifs.
The extensive furnishings include a superb Entombment (late 15th-early 16th century), several works by Jean-Baptiste Bouchardon, a Tree of Jesse and wall paintings from the 16th century, paintings from the 17th, 18th and 19th centuries, and a romantic Cavaillé-Coll organ (1872).
