All that remains of the castle, or fortified house, are the surrounding wall and the corner towers (approximately 2 metres high).

A few traces of Mouilleron in past centuries:
- In 1223, Jeanne de Choiseul married Arnier, Lord of Saffres, and received the villages of Viveiz and Moilleron from her mother, Alis de Grancey.
- In 1500, Othenin de Cleron, Lord of Saffres was Lord of Vivey, Mouilleron and other places.
- Jacques du Val married Madeleine de Contay in 1592 and was lord of Vivey, Musseau, Mouilleron, Rivière etc. He died in 1625.
- his son, Edme du Val lord of Mouilleron and Rivière married Renée de Saint Aubin, he died in 1636.
