Ancienne école d'Aubigny

Ancienne école d'Aubigny

Situated behind the fountain, in the courtyard, note the residential building, now privately owned, which was formerly used as the town hall after 1801 and as a school from 1835 (with accommodation for the teacher), with latrines against the courtyard wall, immediately behind the fountain trough. This school was extended on the site of the old one in 1891 by the firm A. Faure of Fayl-Billot, based on plans by architect and builder Alexandre Martin of Montsaugeon. The town hall closed in 1959, when Aubigny became part of the commune of Vaux-sous-Aubigny, and the school, which had only two pupils, closed in 1933.
