Occupied from the 19th century by the military governor of the Place de Langres, this mansion has a very classical layout between courtyard and garden (now a car park). Its originality lies in the special treatment of its corner volumes. These are systematically softened, with rounded corners (on the street) or canted corners (in the courtyard). The street portal, topped by a basket-handle arch, is still in the decorative tradition of the 17th century, with its curved modillions and spandrels adorned with trophies.
A refined residential thoroughfare, rue de la Tournelle has a "petit Marais" feel to it. It boasts some sumptuous classical private mansions whose façades are hidden from view, but which serve as a reminder of just how popular this street has been since the 16th century.
