Founded in 1115 by Saint Bernard, then completely modernised by the monks in 1708, Clairvaux Abbey finally became a prison in 1808. Although it will house prisoners until May 2023, visits have been organised since the 1980s by the Association Renaissance de l'Abbaye de Clairvaux.
