A panoramic forest walk in Thivet :
This attractive 9km loop starts from the church in Thivet and is ideal for a family outing, combining forest, history and beautiful scenery. The path climbs gently up the plateau, offering superb views as far as Chaumont, then crosses the Charmoy wood. You'll come across an old shepherd's hut, then further on a surprising wolf-hunting hut, a reminder that these animals were present here in the 18th century. The route continues along the edge of the hillside, up to a rocky outcrop with a magnificent panorama over the Marne valley, then descends into a wooded valley before climbing back up along an ancient Gallic path. The return journey via the heights of Thivet is a gentle one. As you continue along the path, you'll come across a stone hut used for wolf hunting and the ancient Gallic road, known as the Langres road, as far as the ancient Gallic camp known as the Cmap de Thivet. A 2.5-hour walk, this signposted (blue-yellow) trail combines varied landscapes, a little history and an immersion in the forest that's accessible to everyone.
