A walk for all ages combining sport and nature along the Marne and the canal between Champagne and Burgundy.
The start of this Grande Boucle, called km 0, is located near the pumptrack in the heart of the Deauville park and is marked by a totem with a map of the loop offering various sporting activities. All along the route, mini totems indicate the number of kilometres covered, and markers indicate the places and heritage to discover in the surrounding area. When crossing roads or bridges, road markings guide passers-by to the next part of the route.
Along the loop, walkers and sports enthusiasts can take on challenge stations, the first of which at km 0 is an obstacle course in Deauville Park. Over 100 metres, 10 obstacles put muscles to the test: a net, a rope, an inclined wall... all with the option of timing yourself.
Water is the central element of this course, so easy access was essential. To punctuate the loop, stops were created to reconnect with the water in the form of two "feet in the water" seats, two lookouts, three access points to unsupervised swimming and two fishing spots. Everyone in Saint-Dizier will have access to the water in less than 10 minutes on foot.
And because water played a major role in the industrialisation of the town, enabling raw materials to be transported on the Marne and the development of the canal-boat industry, a memorial installation, using panels and old photos, recounts the social, cultural and economic role of water at different times.
