Between deep forest and surprising geology:
The 10km Mont Saule hike (approx. 3 hours) is a varied loop that will appeal as much to nature lovers as to walkers looking for a bit of a climb. From the Musseau washhouse, the climb begins on a farm track, before entering the woods to reach a remarkable site: the lapiaz, an astonishing limestone formation sculpted by erosion. The rest of the northern trail follows the tracks of the old Langres-Poinson-Beneuvre railway line. The route then becomes more open to the agricultural landscapes to the south, offering many panoramic views over the Tille de Villemoron valley.
Accessible, but with a few slightly technical sections, this loop is a great outing for motivated walkers keen to discover both natural heritage and traces of local history.
Short detours are possible to shorter alternatives or to the summit of Mont Saule, which can be spotted by its geodesic markers.
