Le puits des Mérottes - PR N°45

A nature loop through valleys, woods and hidden heritage:
This 12km route from Mareilles offers a well-balanced walk, perfect for regular walkers in search of nature and tranquillity. Marked out in green and yellow, the route follows grassy paths and stony tracks through valleys, woods and agricultural plains. The passage through the Puits des Mérottes wood offers a refreshing forest atmosphere, before reaching the Fontaine de Vrannes, ideal for a picnic break. A few more undulating sections add a bit of pace without any real technical difficulty. Along the way, hikers come across traces of a rich past, such as the remains of Merovingian sarcophagi discovered here in the 19th century. Back in Mareilles, a gentle, pleasant loop ends in a landscape typical of the south of the Haute-Marne region. It's a 2? hour walk that combines rural heritage with a breath of nature.
