To mark the centenary of the Tour, the organisers offered a team time trial stage on 9 July 2003 that was 100% Haut-Marnaise. The start was at the Château du Grand-Jardin in Joinville and the finish on the Avenue de la Belle Forêt sur Marne (opposite the Jarre) in Saint-Dizier.

This was the first time since its creation that a complete stage was held in Haute-Marne. At the end of the 69 kms, it was the US POSTAL team that won this 4th stage of the 2003 Tour de France.
