A loop between ancient history and open countryside:
Starting out from Doulevant-le-Château, this 11.5km trail takes you through an area steeped in history, at the crossroads of Roman roads and agricultural landscapes. From the Place de la Fontaine, the climb up to Saint-Louvent church heralds the start of an undulating route alternating between woods, plains and country lanes. You'll pass through Villiers-aux-Chênes, the site of an ancient Merovingian cemetery, then join the Pissotte forest along an ancient track. The gentler return route follows the banks of the River Blaise and an old railway line to the heart of the village. Marked out in green and yellow, this 3-hour walking loop will appeal to curious walkers looking for a fast-paced but accessible outing. With its discreet heritage, rural atmosphere and quiet paths, the Saint Louvent is a great way to discover the Haute-Marne.
