An active and accessible forest loop around Bois Madame:
The Lièvre trail, starting off from the D107 between Châteauvillain and Dinteville, offers a 12km walk in the heart of an unspoilt forest setting. Approximately 3 hours of walking await you in a varied wooded setting, with valleys, gentle ridges and typical forest sections. The route runs along the edge of the Bois Madame, the former hunting grounds of the d'Orléans family, now a peaceful haven of greenery. The path, which is sometimes winding and punctuated by small climbs, crosses several coombs, pine woods, beech forests and clearings. Some of the more strenuous sections require a bit of stamina, but the whole route is accessible to regular walkers, including families. The return via Val Pron and the ponds offers a soothing atmosphere to round off this beautiful nature loop. It's the ideal way to immerse yourself in the forests of Haute-Marne, combining moderate effort with a rejuvenating sense of calm.
