Exposition focus : l'objet de la saison n°6 : l'allégorie de l'architecture et de la peinture

Whilst, during the Renaissance, art theorists regarded the various artistic disciplines as rivals and sought to establish which one predominated, it is a serene atmosphere of exchange that emerges from this beautiful, ancient copy of a painting by Francesco Rustici (1592–1626), held at the Uffizi in Florence. Here, Architecture and Painting engage in a dialogue, bathed in Caravaggesque chiaroscuro. The exhibition will explore the painting, its differences from the original, and will examine the emergence of the concept of the Fine Arts, the nature of allegory, and, finally, painting in Florence and its surroundings during the 17th century – a period less well known than the Renaissance.
