Exposition Ambassadeurs

The Café des Ambassadeurs symbolises the golden age of café-concerts and, more broadly, the artistic life of bohemian Paris – the Paris of the pre-war era. Although the voices celebrated throughout Paris have since fallen silent, the period lives on thanks to the rich collection of posters that contributed to the Ambassadeurs’ fame. From depicting the venue itself to showcasing the stars, the Ambassadeurs poster traces the evolution of the medium, which has moved from promoting popular songs through their sheet music to achieving the status of a work of art.
