Five years of research into the architectural history of Langres
Following the conclusion of the first five-year partnership agreement between the City and the Grand Est Region for the compilation of the Municipal Heritage Inventory, the department is taking stock of its work. Since October 2021, the town has been the subject of an investigation in which hamlets, suburbs, ramparts, streets, houses, cellars and stones are gradually revealing their secrets thanks to a novel scientific approach and methods. From the Middle Ages to the present day, these investigations are revealing new chronological and typological landmarks, as well as heritage that is sometimes hidden – or visible – but always unexpected.
