ARPL 2026 - Le corps en spectacle

To book

In partnership with Le Signe – National Centre for Graphic Design

Suitable for all ages

The exhibition offers an in-depth exploration of depictions of the human form in the Parisian cabarets of the Belle Époque, spanning the period from 1860 to 1905. Drawn from the Gustave Dutailly archive, part of the City of Chaumont’s collection, this selection – curated by the team at Autour des Rencontres philosophiques de Langres – presents a gallery of characters that bear witness to the entertainment industry in the West. As a testament to a forgotten era, these posters provide valuable insight into the nature of these shows, in which human beings were showcased for their differences and abilities: these spectacular bodies were the main attraction.
