What if the body – even one with a disability – were not a limitation, but a starting point for innovating, restoring and extending movement? We will explore, through a cross-disciplinary perspective, how industrial and medical technologies are currently redefining our relationship with the body and proposing – or imposing – a renewed conception of the body.
Gabriel Perez analyses the body not merely as a biological object, but as a psychological and subjective medium, a vehicle for meaning and engagement in action. Technology is transforming this meaning and imposing a new political imagination arising from this relationship between the body, technology and work.
To illustrate these points, Jean-Marc Popot and Lionel Mugnier will explain how prosthetics are designed, manufactured and fitted to integrate with the body, drawing on innovative materials, precision processes and a detailed understanding of biomechanics. Benoît Lyautey will address the limitations of the body at work, where physical strain and musculoskeletal disorders present a major challenge. How do exoskeletons and ergonomics protect the body and support work-related movements?
Through a mix of personal accounts and expert insights, this event invites us to rethink what it means to have a body today, and to what extent technology can and should support it.
